Inclusion of Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) into the United States
Dr Goebel director of the Pain Research Institute, a world leader in the field of Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) and Chair of the UK Royal College of Physicians interdisciplinary CRPS Guidelines Group, has seen the inclusion of CRPS as an indication into the new (July 2016) guidelines for plasma exchange treatment in the US, largely based on clinical and laboratory work published by his group.
Dr Goebel commented that support from the Pain Relief Foundation was instrumental in achieving this success; the PRF supported his work through grants on the’ passive transfer model and autoantibodies’, and it also provided general administrative support for his group’s work in this area,
