Pain Relief Foundation are pleased to announce their collaboration with the Pain Division, Department of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care, Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh, India (PGIMER)

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was singed on the 24th January 2023 between the Pain Relief Foundation, Liverpool, UK (PRF) and The Pain Division ,Department of Anaesthesia, Pain and Intensive Care, Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh, India (PGIMER) to facilitate the development of education and research between the two premier institutes along the following four domains: Academic, Clinical, Research and Quality Improvement.

Dr Sanjeeva Gupta, Consultant in Pain Medicine, Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and one of the co-ordinators from PRF was invited as Visiting Professor to PGIMER, Chandigarh in February 2023. During his visit Sanjeeva interacted with the Director of PGIMER and the members of the pain management and anaesthesia department.

As part of his visit to PGIMER a Symposium on Neuropathic Pain was organised which was attended by over 160 delegates from various specialities. The Director of PGIMER (A Neurologist) was the Chief Guest and was very positive about the collaboration and expressed his willingness to support future endowers. The MOU was formally exchanged between the Director of PGIMER, Prof LN Yaddanapudi (Head of the Department of Anaesthesia, Pain and ICU, PGIMER) and Dr Babita Ghai (Consultant incharge in Pain Medicine,  PGIMER) and Dr Sanjeeva Gupta (representing PRF).

As part of the symposium on Neuropathic pain, Dr Sanjeeva Gupta presented on “Assessment and Management of Neuropathic Pain – An Overview”; Chaired a session on Neuromodulation for Pain Management and was a panellist to discuss on “Post Amputation Pain: How to manage when everything fails”.
